HFO-1234ze is an energy-efficient, ultra-low GWP refrigerant alternative to R-134a in air-cooled and water-cooled chillers for supermarkets and commercial buildings, as well as in other medium temperature applications such as heat pumps, refrigerators, vending machines and CO2 cascade systems in commercial refrigeration. Its GWP of less than 1 is 99.9% lower than R-134a.
Product Description
HFO-1234ze is an ideal substitute for R-134a. The chemical structure of pure fluids contains a carbon-carbon double bond which is a key feature facilitating the low global warming characteristic. These molecules also have low atmospheric lifetimes.
It is trans-1,3,3,3-tetrafluoroprop1-ene to which ASHRAE Standard 34 has assigned the nomenclature of HFO-1234ze. The suffix (E) indicates that it is an isomer.
Typical Applications
Ø Refrigerant
Ø Aerosol propellants
Ø Foaming agent
