Opteon™ XL55 (R-452B) is a non-ozone depleting (ODP), low global warming potential (GWP), hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) based refrigerant. It easily adapts to R-410A designs while offering the same optimal balance of performance, thermal characteristics, and ultra-low flammability.

Opteon™ XL55 offers a combination of design compatibility and reduced compressor discharge temperature when compared to other R-410A alternatives like R-32. This enables an easy transition of R-410A to Opteon™ XL55 with minimal re-design and capital expenditures.
Classified as mildly flammable (A2L), Opteon™ XL55 allows much higher charge sizes than other flammable refrigerants and can be safely used by following the applicable codes and standards. Additional benefits of Opteon™ XL55 include:
